Week 3

So this week has gone by so fast because and I have been so busy! Sunday we went to Munich! It was the first time that I used the SBon and I thought that that was really cool! Arriving in Munich and it was jaw dropping. It was so clean and beautiful! We were only there for a little while but in the time that we were there we saw a couple churches, the English Garden and went to a very touristy restaurant called HofbraUhaus and I had my first weisswurst with pretzel and a sip of beer! A taste of Oktoberfest! J After Munich I went to an “au pair” goodbye BBQ. Even though there weren’t other au pairs there, but my new friend Irina and me, it was still really cool to meet other people! It made me really realize how young I really am! Being almost 19 I was the youngest person at the party and so far the youngest person I have met here! Anyways after the party I went home on the train (SBon) by myself!

Monday: We went to the zoo! It was really big and there were so many animals that we didn’t get to see them all! We went with two other girls, and then the Au Pair that was leaving and Irina! It was fun to be able to walk around with new friends and the kids who seemed to be having the time of their lives with their friends and the animals! The weather was perfect for a day at the zoo being sunny blue skies and about 80 degrees! I could not have asked for a better day!

Tuesday: We had planned to go to a swimming hole type thing. The friends from the day before live so close that we thought we would see if they wanted to come. We actually ended up staying at their house for the rest of the afternoon instead of going swimming. For me this was awesome because I got to spend some time talking to Irina. We really became good good friends and I know that it will stay that way all the time and beyond!

Wednesday: We went to Mechenwoald. (I totally spelled that wrong but totally not the point!) It was really cool. Sorta like a little theme park at the same time as a place where you could listen to a bunch of the Grimm Fairy tales. The tales were said in both German and English… even though we only heard them in German I thought that was really great! We went there by SBon and it took an hour and a half and then a short taxi ride. We got there and went on a couple rides and the kids went on this Harry Potter playground, which was totally awesome! Then after that we met up with the other 2 Au Pairs and their girls. It was so cool to go on all the little rides with the kids and its totally great having the time to talk to the girls! We had so much fun and I know the kids did too. Going home I was so exhausted and was so ready to sleep! I went home and after we ate dinner I was given a phase of energy so my parents and I played Wii bowling! Yeah even though I am not very good it was still really fun!

Thursday: Today we didn’t do too much. Went by with shopping and an eye appointment for the kids! Oh yeah and it rained a little today! But I truly love the rain so no matter!!!

Friday: Today was another rainy day! All day and I love love love it!!! It makes me happy!!! Then after dinner we watched Ice Age 3 with the kids! It is still really funny even though I have no idea what is being said! Ice Age is a great international movie!!! Tomorrow and Sunday I have the days off and I think on Sunday I am going to go to Munich on my own and just adventure around! YAY!

I have decided that I am going to take pictures of all the men and women wearing traditional garb. So if you see a random man or woman wearing funny clothing its because i thought you all deserved to see  a little of what i see! :)

Email 1 for those who saw missed it!

Dear family, friends, and just some of you I met along the way!
As my first email out I would like to say… HIIIII! Some of you may already know the whole story and others only bits and pieces! The whole story goes like this! (Let me note that there may be many spelling and grammar issues… sorry these were never my strong suit!) In June as most of you know I signed a contract with a family living a small village and everything was set to go! I went on a 4-week vacation and working adventure and was not really able to contact my family! In that time then mom was given a new job and one of the two boys was put into a really great Kindergarten… SOOO my services were no longer needed! After a class 5 brake down I re-upped my au pair site and set off to find another family! Three days later I found a great family and I am with them now! Two weeks after I found them and Skyped with them literally every night I packed up 125 pounds of luggage and clothing Brandon (my teddy bear) and I got on a plane for 13 hour flight to Munich Germany!
I arrived here on August 10, 2012. We left the next day for Croatia and we were there for a week! It was seriously so amazingly beautiful! The water so clear and great! The weather was fabulous hot and sunny all week! Now I did not feel well the whole trip because I think I was going through some really bad culture shock! But we did go to some places with some really great meat!!! And I LOVE meat! Also on the trip we went out to dinner with a couple The Husband was totally awesome! He is completely Bavarian and totally awesome! He made me laugh so much and gave me some very wise advice… are you ready… he told me… “Natalie you say yes yes yes when you talk to Natalie you can not say yes! You must always say no!!! NO NO NO boys will be out and around and you must always say NO! Do you understand?!?!” HAHA Natalie and I laughed so hard! And then he told me again twice! Seriously I cannot wait to see him again!

After the week was over and I finally got to my home! I had my first week of work! The Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were a little easier because the kids had pony camp in the morning until 3 and so I didn’t have to really work hard until then! But in that time I cleaned the house and this is and will be my daily task! Vacuuming cleaning the kitchen and doing some laundry! And let me say… NO DRYER!!!! She told me that and I thought I was going to die! Then later that day I also learned that there is no microwave in the house!!! :O I thought I might die at the sound of that one! Then Thursday was my first whole day with the kids and I thought it went really well!

On Friday we left the house at 6 A.M. to hop on a train to Jena and it was so beautiful there! The old architecture seriously made me speechless!!! Natalie was there on business but me and the children had another agenda! We walked around and it was fun! Then I saw my first movie in German… Ice Age 4… hahah it was so funny to hear all the voices!!! We went home on Saturday. Getting home at 9:00 P.M. we went out to dinner to a very Bavarian restaurant. It was so late and I was so exhausted from the past two days so I was excited to sit in a semi quite restaurant and just eat!!!! BUT NOOOOO it was music night and when we walked in the drum line was playing and it was so loud! Then after 20 minutes of loud drumming they were finally done and I thought it was over… but once again I was wrong… The first Mexicans I had seen in 2 weeks and they were playing Mariachi Band music. Mom and I just started laughing because we were so tired and thought we were going to relax…  On Sunday I finally saw Munich and once again I was jaw dropped it’s so beautiful we went into this Catholic Church and it was picturesque!!!!!

Email one done! Week three started! Adventure is out there and I am going to experience it all!

Just your normal DAY 11

Wow today was great! First real day on the job and it is busy! I followed the mom around the house learning about all the things I will be doing! It seemed like all busy work but it shouldn't be too hard for me to pick up a daily routine! I got some really good quality talking time in with the mom, which was great! I am really happy here and am excited for what is to come! :)

Croatia

I am sitting here at my computer thinking where the heck do i even start about the trip to Croatia. The beach... maybe the food, but I mean on top of it all the people and the language! Just deciding I would start with the beautiful scenery!
Leaving early Saturday and still being exhausted from the flight I slept pretty much the whole way to Croatia so not seeing anything much! But when we arrived to the Boarder I was wide-awake! Already I could tell that this place was going to be amazing! It was so green and lush and then at same time seeing the ocean and that was my view from the apartment that I was staying at for the week! It was so unbelievably unreal! Then making it to the beach! Haha this was another just completely jaw dropping moment for me! The water was so clear that when I went out wading in the water 50 feet from shore I could still see the floor of the ocean! The water was so unmistakably clear and I absolutely loved it! Going to the beach everyday was so nice and I got so tan! The beach was rocks but it was still just unbearably beautiful!
Now the FOOD! Wow really it was sooo good! I really wasn’t feeling well the whole time I was there but still I ate and what I did eat was absolutely delicious! On the second night we ate at a restaurant where they pretty much serve a 2 people on 1 plate of food! There was so much! This place was a little farm and it was supper beautiful and it was a place that only locals knew about because it was so well hidden! The farm only served food that they had grown themselves, including their own meat! I had beef both times we went and it was seriously so good! It tasted like my dads prime rib and it made me so happy! Then we also when to a couple of really awesome seafood restaurants! Now while on this trip I realized something… I never had thought of myself as a picky person! But since I was sick and they really wanted me to eat food the last night they were talking to the waiter about what I wanted and what I didn’t want and I felt like the list was huge! L is the Farm blurry but you get the point!
Lastly the people and the language! First I would like to say that the European men have very good images of themselves because honestly when you are that old you really should net be wearing a speedo or “nut huggers” haha I mean I am just saying! Also if your butt does not fill it out… don’t wear it… please do society a favor and just put on some short shorts!!!!... Wow that felt good to get out of my system! Haha ok but anyways at almost every dinner we had we had with a group of people so I was hearing Croatian and German at least! Just listening to German now I can slowly pick it up what people are talking about!

Well I have done enough for now!

Day 3 and 4

So when i first got to Croatia i was so motivated to write everyday! HA HA yeah my motivation lasted about 2 days! but i do have a lot more to write other the these two days but i figured that you would be able to at least start with this and you could be a little satisfied! :D ha ha well here's 2 days!

Day 3
Wow so far today I have been feeling like death. Woke up and I was fine. Are breakfast and I felt like barfing. Went to the beach... barfed. Ya that was just great! Then just sat and tried to relax. Swam a little bit today. It is now 430 and we are about to go eat dinner on a farm. I don't feel like eating but they feel I really need to eat so we will see how it goes. Until tonight! :)

Day 3 part2

Went to dinner. It was amazing! At dinner there were people from Croatia speaking Croatian! It was so amazing to hear all the different languages!!! For dinner I had veal and it was absolutely to die for! Now I feel better and hopefully it stays that way!

Done for the day,
Natalie

Day 4

Today was good. Woke up and went to the beach. We were at the beach by 9:45 and we stayed till about 6. I would like to say again and again the water is sooooo blue its like out of a picture! The water is a tad cold when you first get on but when you start to swim around you get more and more used to it. Then when we got back we showered and got ready for dinner which was great! I had salmon pasta and its was marvelous. Well done for the day.
