Au Pair Natalie at Oktoberfest!/ What I have Learned so far. (part1)

Now to start this blog I would really like to point out that YES I am 19 as of today. I am saying this to point out that I understand that in America drinking is illegal! BUT I would also like to put out there that in Germany the legal drinking age for beer is 16 and all the rest is 18! On that note! I would also like to say that I have no reason to explain myself! I am a legal adult and am able to make wise decisions on my own for the most part! With that I will begin!

Saturday was that first day of Oktoberfest! The weather was rainy and cold but that didn’t really stop us from going! Peter’s brother had come into town and was here to also go. They arrived in the morning and after we had lunch and go dressed we left for Oktoberfest at around 130 and arrived there around 230. It honestly reminded me of the del mar fair! Just without the animals! We had arrived early enough to not really have any drunken people there! Plus since it was also cold and rainy that made it so that there were not very many people there in general! But so after we walked around and the kids rode a few rides we stopped at one of the tents and got a table! I tried some of the beer off of Natalie and it was actually pretty good! While we were there a guy that was having his bachelor party was totally “pissed” as Natalie would say! Anyways not the point the point of the Hot almost married guy was that in Germany they do the parties differently. The Guy that is getting married goes out with all of his friends… now that’s the normal part! The different part is that all of the friends get to dress up the guy that’s getting married! So this was the lucky winner!

While at the tent it started as rather empty but quickly began to fill up! It was fun to people watch and sing along with the songs that I actually knew! It was really fun to be able to just watch and listen and drink a little bit!

When we left we got on the U-bon (underground train) and once we got to the S-bon station we had to wait 30 minutes because we had just missed the train so to entertain myself i was pacing back and forth and every time a hot guy walked by i would smile! Haha magically the guys here have way more guts! Last night one pair of guys stopped walking and one started talking to Natalie and peter asking for directions and the other was waiting! Yah no joke the guy waiting was totally staring at me and I smiled and kept walking when the started to leave the one that was looking at me stopped me and said hey and stopped his friend that yah they were both soooooo hottt!!!! And they stared to talk to me but then stopped and just said goodbye and they were going to Oktoberfest! But like 5 minutes later a guy wearing a Luigi out fit and his smoken hot friend came up to me and the guy in the Luigi outfit Seriously stopped me and started talking to me! And my response is always the same! I speak English! And his was OH GOOD!!!!! Me too! They he introduced himself! His name was Dale and then he proceeded to ask me if I was alone or with friends and I told them that I was with family! Then he asked me out for a drink with him and his hot friend and even though I said no I think if I was with friends I would have said yes! :) It was so cool to have guys actually talk to me! For once! And for once me not totally frightened to talk and flirt back!!! 

Then on Sunday when I was heading out to Munich my friend Irina called me and asked me to go to Oktoberfest with her! So I agreed and off we went! It was so much more crowded but still it was fun! Plus it was nice to be able to talk to someone! After we walked around for about an hour we decided that we would go through a “Hippy House” walk through thing! It was really cool actually! Until the end… now if you know me then you know that I am like deathly afraid of clowns! At the end of this thing there was a floating clown head and I was like ok I’m just going to walk by really fast as I walked by a hand came out of no where and touched me… I assumed it was Irina but when I looked back I saw a hand coming out of nowhere! So lets just say I started screaming… haha yah so then the guy that was messing with the hand poked his head out… Saying he was hot was an understatement! Haha he grabbed my hand and stated talking in German and said something along the lines of I am sorry I scared you and then your beautiful! HAHA yup and then when I tried leaving he was still holding my hand and wouldn’t let it go until he had to! Irina and I couldn’t stop laughing! But it defiantly made me smile! All in all Sunday was really fun and amazing! 

Here are some things I have learned about Europe, Germany, and Oktoberfest!

1. Germany has no definite speed limits! On the autobahn they have electric speed signs and they can change the maximum speed limit by the flow of traffic or just have no limit at all! Peter told me the first day that I was there that the reason they have no limits was because sense they make the cars the people decided that they shouldn’t have limits! Also that if they have no limits people will buy more expensive cars and then the government gets more taxes!
2. I think that some traffic signs are seen more as suggestions rather then law… but that may just be my P.O.V.
3. Speaking of traffic laws! They hide traffic cameras in the back of cars so that you wont see the ticket coming!
4. Now talking about tickets! I have yet to see someone actually being pulled over to get a ticket! They only time I see the police is when I am in the city and I am walking around!
5. Guys in Europe are way more confident with themselves! If they know that you are interested they will stop you and talk to you! I know this because it has happened to me more times then I can count! But the point of this bullet was that all it take to get a guy to talk to you is a pretty smile or a flick of your hair and boom you’re talking to a hot guy! Funny how that works huh?

6. I think a guy dressed in lederhosen is super sexy! Don’t ask me why because I am not sure that I can really explain it! HAHA I just thought I would not surprise any of my good friends with that comment! :p
7. I really enjoy watching drunk people! It’s sad but true! When they are staggering and speaking with a major slur it makes me laugh and the faces that they make are totally priceless!!!

So I have written enough for now! Here are some more pictures of Oktoberfest and just guys in general in lederhosen! For a quick update on what I did for my 19^th birthday! I woke up at 530 to Skype my parents. Then got up for work at 630. We had my birthday cake for breakfast. Natalie made it herself and it was really good! Then they got me presents so I opened them! Natalie and Peter gave me a really great card and a necklace that matches my dirndl perfectly! And from the kids they got me a stuffed dog! I will take a picture and post it so you all can comment and help me name him! That was really cool for me! Then after doing my small daily chores I went to Munich for a couple of hours and lucky me I got to see more guys in Lederhosen! Haha but once I got home and after we picked up the kids the kids and I played just dance and that was fun! They were like wow she just got 4 stars! She’s amazing! And that was my birthday basically! Anyways now I must sleep! :)

Au Pair, Quick update on Me! sorta!

I am currently sitting at my desk thinking wow! I have not written in a really long time! I really should do that! So here I go… I guess! Also i have been here for about 6 weeks! Can you believe it!

Last week was the first week of school for the kids! Cedric started on Monday and Stella on Thursday! In the empty days for Stella we had some time to bond, which was really great! On Monday Stella had a dentist appointment and asked me to come! She was getting a tooth pulled! OUCH! So any ways while at the dentist I saw for the first time in my life the numbing needle because normally I close my eyes! I will most likely to continue to close my eyes till I die! :) (Why change what’s working? huh!) Anyways getting past the needle we quickly moved on to the pulling! All I could think was… Seriously what the hell am I doing right now! OMG I think I may pass out!!! The whole time! Not a joke! Anyways after leaving we went shopping and then since it was a week ago… I forgot! Haha the rest of the week went by really fast on Tuesday the kids and I went to a wild animal park. And no not like the one is Esco! The animals were actually wild! But it was still really cool! Wednesday was a cleaning day! And Thursday Stella was at school and magically my days got just a little bit easier! Now what I have had all day I have had more time to clean and stuff! I think of it as housewife training! Yah and don’t we all know that its just my complete dream to become a housewife-_-… thrilled! (Can you sense the sarcasm though the screen? I hope so!) Anyways so for the rest of the week and then this week also I have been trying to improve on my cleaning.! Ha-ha one day someone will really truly appreciate it! I am almost sure! This week has been really just getting ready for tomorrow because Natalie had a business meeting tomorrow! JOY! Anyways I will write again very soon and really try my best to write more often! Goodbye for now! My head is going to slam into my pillow so fast! I hope that I sleep well tonight! Night night y’all! 

Au Pair in Austria

Sorry it took so long to publish this! I have actually been very busy and by the time I have time to write it is always 11 or 12 and at that point I always am ready to sleep! Well I hope you enjoy. :)

Wow! What a trip! Austria was truly an experience! I have so many stories to tell and so much to say! Where do I even start? At the beginning of coarse! Silly me!

So as many of you may know we were scheduled to go to Austria leaving Saturday and we were planning on dirndl shopping on the way and then come home the following Sunday. As we got closer and closer to the leaving date my mom decided that since it was supposed to be raining there until Tuesday that we wouldn’t leave until Wednesday. No point in wasting time not being able to do anything in a small little apartment! Anyways she called the lady about our apartment reservations and as a joke said something about snow. Turns out that it was snowing there and if we had gone it would have been worse then we had thought! I have written some more about the weekend in another blog. I believe it was “My Awesome Weekend.” But as a quick overview we went dirndl shopping, are still cleaning out and creating an art room and also we played a crap ton of cards!!! YAY! Anyways now to the real reason I am typing today.

Leaving Wednesday at about 1 o’clock we all squeezed in Peters car and started the great travel of about two and a half hours to Serfaus, Austria. We drove about 40 minutes and stopped at McDonalds to grab lunch and Peter realized that he forgot something important and so after we ate he left to go home and Natalie the kids and I stayed there and Stella and Cedric played! More then an hour later we were back on the road! We arrived in Fiss at around 4:45 and made sure that we still had diner reservations and we got the kids tickets and so forth! For dinner that night we went to this place and had pork knuckle! I am not kidding when I say IT WAS THE BOMB DOT COM!!!!! It was so good! It was tender and the crust was crunchy and delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Then after my HUGE meal I got dessert, which was crape with vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce… yup Austrians defiantly deserve the title of kick ass deserts because that was just indescribable! That night we played cards!

Thursday: We woke and left for the mountain around 10:30 we went on a hike and it had a little story that went along with it. It was about a plane that crashed and it had stolen treasure pieces in it and we had to go out and find them! It was so fun to see the kids all excited! Then after we finished that hike we went on a trail that was all about the little beaver chip-monk squirrel thingy! And it was cool! There was a talking tree and a talking bear and it was all interactive thing! It was so cool!!! Then around 1 we stared to head home taking a long trail that took us till about 4 to get to the lodge. Once we finally got there we took the summer bobsled down to Fiss and a bus from there back to Serfaus. For dinner we went to the same place that we went to the first night! I had a grillteller and it was a piece of stake, chicken, and pork and bomb fries!!!! It was so good and sadly I ate all of it!!! I was so hungry I couldn’t believe it! That night Peter, Natalie, and I played some puzzle castle game that happened to be extremely fun! Again going to bed well past mid-night!

Friday: Leaving the apartment around the same time as the day before we went to the top of the mountains! It was so striking! Jaw dropping! The scenery was so amazing knowing that I was able to see everything just from that spot! From where I was I saw the Alps and Italy! I really just at that point could not believe that I was there! That I am here! That I have been given the awesome opportunity to come and live and travel! It showed me that God has given me this great chance and here I am taking it! Anyways after feeling on top of the world we went on a hike the Hexenweg Witch Way. (hehe) These little hikes are so cute! They gave me a little booklet to fill out and we went through and answered all the questions! I actually got diplomas for finishing the two hikes and the books that went with them! Anyways after we finished and got home and ready for dinner we ended up going back to the same place again as the two nights before! The food there was so good and I got something new. It was a deliciously mouth watering piece of meat covered with gravy and fried onions and then fries! Sadly again I finished my whole meal! After dinner when we went home we played cards! Surprise Surprise! Only difference is that I kept score and Natalie decided that I was a terrible score keeper and even though she kicked my butt she still to this day says I won the game because I had the most zeros! Once again exhausted we went to bed at around 12

Saturday: When we were about to start our hike the dad decided that he wanted to go on this hike by himself. Mean while the mom, the kids and I went and played on the COOLEST playground I have ever seen! My favorite one was where it was basically all underground and the way you move around was through tubes! (And maybe a little because of the smoking hot guy that was inside talking to me!) To just describe him a little! Tall broad big muscles and tattoos! OMG I am not kidding you when I say the tattoos made everything about him so much hotter!!! J Anyways beside the point! The playgrounds were THE BEST! Once Peter got back to us we stared our “longest” hike of the days that we were out! It was so beautiful and a really interesting hike! First you had to pick up a rock and carry it for a little while! The rock signified your troubles and later in the hike you threw your “troubles” into the rushing water of a creek. Natalie said to me “how did it feel to throw your troubles away?” I looked at her and we both started laughing! When we finally stopped for lunch we sat in these hanging hammocks and they were so comfy! When we were ready to leave I stood up and realized that the chair had a hole and my entire butt was soaking wet! Lucky for me I hiked with spanks and just took my shorts off and carried them on my backpack hoping they would dry. Unfortunately they did not! The hike took us about 5 hours and it was so fun! That night for dinner we went to a pizza place! It was so good! I had a pizza with red and yellow peppers and hot pepperoni. It like melted in my mouth with deliciousness! That night went to bed relatively early because I was truly so exhausted.

Sunday: Woke up around the same time! The story is all the same till we are walking down the street! Here’s a twist that still makes me smile! Walking down the street headed for a new hike. Everything is normal! Blue skies no clouds and already pretty warm! Coming down the street is a guy on this sexy motorcycle! ;) All I am thinking to myself is “Please be young and hot” While he is coming closer I notice these really HOTT tattoos on his arms! 5 seconds later it clicks! Holy crap the hot guy from the playground! I am sure I had the dumbest look on my face but whatever! As he passed he waved then sped away! Right at that moment I started laughing just total uncontrollable laughter! Natalie, Peter, and the kids were all like what the heck is wrong with you? And I just laughed and smiled and went along my merry way! As the day progressed with the hike it was all amazing! I was having such a great time out and actually hiking… Sorta! After our little morning hike and me still smiling we got on the summer ski bobsled things! (SOO FUNN!!!) Anyways me flying down the mountain at super speed having so much fun! Once I got to the bottom I relized that I had lost my camera with all the pictures form the whole week! Now you must be thinking “OH wow Natalie! But you already posted pictures of your trip so how did you get your camera back?” I will tell you my faithful little readers! Natalie and I hiked down the mountain following the trail of the sled ride all the way. I stepped in mud and waters and I was totally getting exhausted. Finally getting about half way down the mountain I found it! Natalie and I were no joke jumping up and down and screaming with excitement! Then some guys from the gondolas above decided to celebrate with us! To say this quickly with the most serious look my face can manage… Natalie and I walked back up the hill. And if your thinking oh Natalie I am sure it was not that bad… I would reply to you with this! The incline on the mountain we were walking was like 80% out of 100% incline! Talk about “feeling the burn!” Anyways after we got back to Peter and the kids we went back to the apartment and we were ready to go home! We went to guess where for dinner??? That’s right night number 4 at the little restaurant with bomb food!

Heading home was long but painless! Cedric and Stella are not able to sleep in the car. And I have been givin the great gift of after sitting in the car for 5 minutes I can fall asleep! So with that great mixture a super tired Natalie (me) did not sleep until about 11 o’clock. But once I really got comfortable in bed I was out like a light!

Now that it has taken me longer then I thought possible to write this blog I have been given an ample amount of time to think about the trip and hiking! The question those of you who really know me is “Natalie do you like hiking now?” And I believe I will be going to my deathbed saying… NOPE I still do not like hiking! I never have and never will! J The trip was amazing and I would do it again. But at the same time I would rather sit on a boat at the lake or strap into my board and ride my way down the mountain by snowboard! Though this trip has made me think about me and my life and my faith! So all in all it turned out to be for the better! I guess we will never really know about our future until we are there! Maybe one day when I am old and wrinkly I will look back at this and say… Wow I was dumb for not loving hiking or this thing or that! Anyways I have written far to much and have taken far to long to do so! Thanks for reading to the random people out there!
